The Campus Commonwealth Academy is a two year curriculum to equip all juniors and seniors in universities throughout the campus ministries of the American Commonwealth Region of churches.

Each year, Campus Commonwealth Academy schedules courses around the academic calendar of our university students. One course is offered during winter break and a second during summer break. There are four core courses in the curriculum: 

  1. Principles of Biblical Interpretation (aka Biblical Exegesis) based in Pittsburgh
  2. Christian Apologetics based in Montgomery County, MD
  3. Expository Preaching based in Hampton Roads, VA (at the Virginia campus of Commonwealth Academy)
  4. New Testament Survey based in Roanoke, VA

CCA on Apologetics Jan 3-4 2015 in Montgomery County MD

As society polarizes between the faithful and the skeptical, the need for Christians to defend the truth and reason of the gospel grows.  This 2-day teaching session will cover: 

  • Basics of Logical Thinking and Argument-Building
  • Apologetics and the Ministry
  • Reliability of the Scriptures 
  • Historicity of Christ
  • Practicals for Apologetics-based Outreach

Sign-Up & Registration

The CCA is open to juniors, seniors, graduate students, or One-Year Challenge participants who have been commended by their ministry leaders to participate.

  • Please sign-up with your local ministry leader to make sure this event is for you
  • Cost is $20/student; register and pay online at www.themccoc.org (look for the Logic & Apologetics link on the website)
  • Housing with local disciples is available upon request through your local ministry leader.  Requests must be made no later than December 15th!

General Tips & Info

  • Students arriving from out of town should plan to come Friday night, as the first teaching session will begin early on Saturday morning.  The final teaching session will end on Sunday at 4PM.  Schedule details TBA.
  • Please remember to bring pocket money for meals/snacks
  • For students wishing to get MTA/CCA credit, there will be a test-exam on the material presented

Campus Commonwealth Academy on Apologetics&Logic 

January 12-13, 2013 at University of Maryland and Montgomery County Church

As society polarizes between the faithful and the skeptical, the need for Christians to defend the truth and reason of the gospel grows.  This 2-day teaching session will cover: 

  • Basics of Logical Thinking
  • Apologetics and the Ministry
  • Dialoguing with Skeptics
  • Reliability of the Scriptures & Historicity of Christ
  • Supporting Arguments for the Existence of GodRegistration cost is $25 (Bring pocket-money for meals).

Register early with your ministry leader so that accommodation plans can get made; students will stay in the homes of local disciples. Plan to arrive Friday evening (Jan 11), first teaching session will begin Saturday morning, detailed itinerary will be provided to students upon registration. The CCA is open to juniors, seniors, graduate students, or One-Year Challenge participants who have been commended by their ministry leaders to participate

Before attending, students will also be required to:

  • Complete the required reading: Compelling Evidence for God and the Bible by Doug Jacoby
  • Review 2 PowerPoint presentations: Introduction to Logical Thinking and Informal Logical Fallacies
  • Watch two videos: "Unlocking the Mystery of Life" and "The Privileged Planet" which will be available on this site
